Craigslist scams are unfortunately pretty common, so it's important to be extra vigilant if you want to buy a car from a seller on Craigslist. Craigslist rental scams of phony rental listings are also known to exist. Look out for ads that display a sense of urgency. Hence, double-check the site URLs and app details before accessing or downloading. Combine some of the factors I am going to spell out, and you may just have a scammer, trying to have you send deposits on a home that is not really for rent. But beware - the scammers have figured out how. The best way to pay or receive payment is cash, in-person. Agreeing to meet up with someone online is a scary business, especially if you don't know each other very well first. Watch for deals where the seller asks for money upfront to secure the item. If an advertisement for rental has NO images, beware.
